"Cacti in the Wichitas" 8x10 in. Oil on Canvas Board

$200.00

This piece was painted on-site at the Wichita Wildlife Refuge

As a resident of Oklahoma, I have the luxury of escaping to the Wichita Wildlife Refuge anytime my nervous system is needing a little reset. Not only can I escape for a while and listen to the birds sing and watch the buffalo graze, but I can bring my oil paints along with me and do my best to capture God’s handiwork through paint. Plein Air painting is one of my favorite ways to slow down, disconnect from the hurry of the world, and be still in nature. Plein Air painting requires a lot of noticing. It requires you to note and identify the vast array of colors in front of you, notice the shifting light, and the natural composition of nature. It’s my way of “touching grass,” as the kids would say.
